Vintage Kantha quilts in beautiful hand-stitched patterns and assorted colors. All beautiful and adds the perfect touch to any bed or home.
Our kantha quilts are hand stitched from recycled sari cloth from India. Kantha refers to the type of stitch used in the craft of embroidery. This kantha stitch gives the sari quilts their general wavy, textured quality. In rural India kanthas are offered to guests in homes as a seat, a place to rest their tea, or simply as an expression of welcome into the home. We offer our kanthas to you in the hope that you will feel connected to a deep rooted history of a rich human culture, and that you too will offer your kantha to your house guests in efforts to find connections and human experience.
Hand-sewn Kantha quilt is crafted by artisans in India. Each yard of sari material used for the blanket has been purchased for a fair price from impoverished areas of Calcutta. The vintage sari material is then stitched together with colorful thread to create these beautiful, softly layered cotton throws.
Our vibrant sari blankets are reversible. When you need a fresh look, just flip them over. (Image shown is of blanket folded over to show the design on both sides)
Each throw is one-of-a-kind so when it's gone, it's gone!
WASHING CARE: The quilts machine wash very well. We recommend washing separate in cold water and dry on low.
